Great company to do business with. Matthew was very professional yet personable. It was amazing how meticulously he took care of the installation and taught us how to use the blinds properly. I highly recommend them and will use them again myself.

Great service. Matthew helped me with some estimates. His quote was more competitive than other installers for the same product. He also did a great job installing all the blinds, setting up the remotes and explaining how they work.

Great experience with Biggie Blinds! Callen was great helping us figure out our shades and came back when what we first selected was no longer available. When the shades came, the installer was more picky than I and the shades were re-ordered. the final product is PERFECT!

I have an aging home, and I needed new blinds for the living and dining rooms. Biggie Blinds saved me a ton of money up front and on my energy bill with their highly efficient honeycomb shades. And, they qualified for a rebate from Xcel Energy!

I am a real estate agent in the Denver area and manage several rental properties. In looking for the most cost-effective way to freshen up rentals, I stumbled onto Biggie Blinds in Denver, CO and I am happy I did. Biggie Blinds has helped with 4 properties so far and I will continue to use them anytime I need window coverings. They are fast, inexpensive and the products they carry give me all the options I need for any type of rental. I can have high end motorized shades or I can get high quality, low-cost cordless faux wood blinds. I highly recommend Biggie Blinds in Denver for all your window covering needs.

We have used Biggie Blinds twice. The first time was for completing blinds for our home that matched the builders. Biggie was great. They came out, measured, installed and their prices were highly competitive. We then ordered a Hunter Douglas treatment for our sliders. Again, Callan John and Jacob all were helpful accommodating and generous with their time and expertise. We recommend Biggie for all your window and lighting needs. We are now using them for light fixtures too!

FAQ

YES! Absolutely!! Think of the Yeti or Hydro Flask technology. The pockets or “cells”, formed by the fabric, trap heat and cold reducing the heat exchange rate. When surrounded by the right material, air pockets are a highly effective insulator. The more cells the better!

Bonus: Room darkening material is more efficient than a translucent or light filtering material.

It is a measure of thermal resistance. Essentially, R-Value measures how well a product reduces energy (heat) gain or loss. The higher the R-Value, the better the efficiency!
Not all window coverings are created equal, nor do they add the same value to your home. While some decorative window dressings are aesthetically pleasing and other coverings provide energy efficiency, they may not add much to your appraised value. Any window covering may be of value to a potential homebuyer, but when it comes to adding real value to your home, Plantation Shutters are the most effective. Shutters are considered permanent, custom, most come with a lifetime warranty and are often featured in real estate descriptions as a major selling point.

Well…yes, but…DON’T. We highly advise you leave that to a professional. Measuring for window coverings is a relatively simple process BUT, the type of product will dictate how those need to be taken. For instance, Roller Shades often (not always, and a professional will know) just need the top of the opening where the headrail will be mounted measured and the height of the opening. Horizontal slat blinds, however, require a top, middle and bottom measure where the narrowest width is recorded so the blind doesn’t get caught up when pulling it down. Then there are factors such as window depth, frame, sill, inside or outside mount that need to be considered. These things play a part in the mounting of the product, therefore the person measuring needs to be aware of these influences. A mistake on one window could cost FAR MORE to replace the product than it costs to hire a pro to measure in the first place, not to mention what it would cost if you make the same mistake on 20 windows!

Side note: Some coverings need to be measured to the nearest 1/16” and if you have ever used a tape measure to get an accurate measurement of the inside of an opening, you know how tough that can be!

It isn’t just where the headrail will be mounted! While the simple answer is, “Inside” fits on the inside of the window opening and “Outside” mounts to the wall on the outside of the window opening, there are other things to consider when choosing which mount type is best for you and for the room they are intended for.

Inside: This is the cleanest look and the measurements need to be accurate and precise. The fabric is closest to the window and the product can get caught in a gap (if not measured correctly) that is narrower and can essentially disable your window covering.

Outside: This opens up nearly all product options but, it uses more material which can translate into more cost. Also, trim has to be taken into consideration when mounting.

Light Gap: Another consideration is the light gap. While both an outside and an inside mount will have a light gap (unless channel is used such as with Hunter Douglas’ “LightLock”), the light that is bleeding into the room can be dramatically different. With Inside mount, the light is bleeding into the room directly. With outside mount the light is cast onto the wall.

While the list of things that are ‘relative’ is extensive, affordability is at the top of that list. We have seen motorization technology advance dramatically over the last several years and, with more and more companies getting in the game, competition has driven costs down and research and development up. This is to your benefit! Where it may have cost $700 more for a motorized roller shade a few years back, it might only cost a couple hundred now, AND the technology gives us the opportunity to say, after a long day at work, “I’m home!” and your scene is set! Lights turn on to 30%, music kicks on and the window coverings close for privacy. (Can you picture it? I sure can!!)
Nope! Not anymore, and we really don’t recommend it in most situations. The new technology uses rechargeable battery packs that last for a year on one charge. Plug in overnight and they are back to fully charged ready for another year. That being said, high windows that are hard to get to even with a ladder, well, yeah…you should see if there is something you can do about wiring for power but still…a tall extension ladder is still less expensive than an electrician.
Yes and no. It all depends on the product and the manufacturer. I wish there were a clear answer here but there isn’t. We recommend you get what you want/need out of the gate and not throw good money after bad.
Opacity refers to levels of light filtering for fabrics on roman shades, pleated, cellular and roller shades and draperies. Opacity qualities run from very open and light-sheer to semi sheer to light filtering-semi-opaque to opaque (room darkening) to blackout. Opaque coverings can be 1% through 10% with the lower number the less you can see through the fabric and the less light goes through.
A cellular shade is a window covering that has pockets of air acting as insulation, while honeycomb shades have pockets of air acting as insulation, so, to recap…nothing.
Absolutely not! Every room has a purpose and often an individual design aesthetic. The window coverings should be selected with that in mind. You can even mix and match in the same room but, we encourage you to keep the same product and same fabric when the windows are side by side…kind of like a disclosure on a tide pod “not for human consumption”, while it sounds like common sense, someone needed to be told!

ENERGY EFFICIENT COMFORT

According to the Department of Energy, without energy-efficient window coverings, a home can lose up to 30% of its heating and cooling energy through its windows. Window treatments can go a long way toward boosting your home’s energy efficiency, keeping you comfortable.
